REBUILDING FUTURES: Helping Orphaned Children Get Back on the Path to Education

APT Social Service Society

Project Overview

The Anita Mendiratta Foundation is proud to have supported APT for over three years and the kind hearts of our donors have been instrumental in helping over 60 children get back on the path to education. We are honoured honored to provide funding that covers essential educational expenses like school fees, uniforms, books, and transportation. This support is critical in helping children, aged 6 to 16, attend school consistently and learn in a supportive environment, which is important for their personal growth and success in school.

MORE ABOUT APT SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY

For over a decade, the APT Social Service Society in Andhra Pradesh, India, has been a lifeline for orphaned and vulnerable children, giving them a second chance at life. The children at APT have faced unimaginable hardships – living on the streets, sleeping and begging at train stations, dealing with unimaginable loss, growing up in extreme poverty without access to basic needs such as foo and clean water, or being forced into child labour at very young ages.

At APT, these children find not just a safe and loving home, but also the nurturing environment they need to heal and thrive. Under the care of  loving staff who become family to the children who arrive at APT,  they are given the opportunity to access quality education. The Anita Mendiratta Foundation is proud to support APT in its mission to transform these children’s lives through education – empowering them to grow, learn, and build a brighter future.

In October 2023, the AMF Co-Leads of Global Projects conducted a comprehensive site visit to the APT Social Service Society. We were heartened to see the children thriving, full of life, and deeply committed to their education. The founders of APT and the on-site staff, who welcomed us warmly, have dedicated their lives to these children, loving them as their own and ensuring their happiness and well-being.

During our visit, we met their dedicated teachers, toured the local schools, and engaged with community members to understand the profound impact the home has on the surrounding community. The visit reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the continued growth and well-being of these inspiring children.
